In post-Roe America, abortion providers and their patients face "a lot of pressure" and "a lot of stereotypes," says @soledadobrien.bsky.social. Her new documentary, "The Devil is Busy" sheds light on "the actual people in these clinics," and the realities of reproductive healthcare. #Velshi
Soledad O'Brien: 'The Devil is Busy' gives “a more nuanced picture” of abortion providers
The new HBO documentary “The Devil is Busy” looks at the difficult daily work of abortion providers working under strict restrictions in Atlanta. Executive producer Soledad O'Brien tells Ali Velshi that with abortion becoming a highly politicized issue, she wanted to show "who are the actual people in these clinics, and what they do day in and day out." The documentary's focus on providers and patients, rather than higher level discussions of policy, O'Brien explains, aims to provide "a more nuanced picture of what's actually happening" in post-Roe America.

Can't believe our tax dollars are going to be spent settling the upcoming exorbitant defamation suit with Sabrina Carpenter, but maybe this is just how public arts funding is going to work now.
Sabrina Carpenter ratioed the White House after it used her song in an ICE video.

The WH deleted the post…but now it’s back with a new ICE video, this time using an altered clip from Carpenter’s SNL monologue.

There are lots of things wrong with the US city planning system, but one of the bigger examples is the theory that judges are qualified to 2nd guess public policy decisions. The law says they can only overturn decisions that exceeded authority. But here’s an example of a judge exceeding their own.
BREAKING: A Queens judge on Friday took the unprecedented step of ordering the city to rip up the partially installed protected bike lane on 31st Street in Astoria, defying years of legal precedent that empowers the DOT to redesign city streets as it sees fit. buff.ly/02lWfWs

I am begging reporters to heed @jessicacalarco.com's warning here. There is too much equivocation even in articles that highlight RFK Jr's anti-vaccine zealotry. These articles juxtapose a claim he offers, with "other experts say." It is a pernicious tic of mainstream journalism and has to stop.
It's notable that, even in an article critical of RFK Jr., the reporter hedges, saying "There’s no good evidence of serious, widespread harm from the vaccine" rather than just "vaccines are safe." RFK Jr. has made a career of exploiting the ambiguity of the former.

I am a suicide attempt survivor so I’m kind of selfishly interested in prevention and, again, while it may difficult to completely prevent IDEATION, what ChatGPT does (despite guardrails!) is *cheerlead and facilitate* completion. You can come back from ideation but not a chat-optimized completion.
This is not true. This is argument that pro-gun people use to discount red flag and waiting period laws. Ease of access and lethality (let alone cheerful instruction in the best method!) is the #1 predictor of attempts leading actual completion. The more barriers, the more people live.
I think it's fine Chat GPT is telling people how to kill themselves. They'll figure it out one way or another if they're serious.
