In apparent violation of public meeting rules, Mayor Andy Fillmore hosted secret meeting with councillors and Construction Association of Nova Scotia to talk regional plan - Halifax Examiner
Coun. Sam Austin expressed concerns with that meeting, saying while he thought the intentions were "good," he asked if the invitation was the "epitome of a backroom meeting?"

I got more shit today for talking smack about grocery execs than for criticizing our business-first economic approach.

Very, very interesting.

“Affordability is the top concern for everyone right now. Our job at City Hall must be to reduce the property tax burden on residents as much as possible." /1

I have an immense amount of respect for Halifax's independent reporters.

They're the ones who pick up the stories that bigger news corps end up running off with, often with a human-centred angle that holds the power to account.

Support local, independent journalism whenever you can.

Nova Scotia power would never.

Seriously, Nova Scotia power would never give people free electricity as that would cut into the profits of selling free electricity at a markup.
Australia has so much electricity from solar power that it is going to start offering free electricity to everyone for at least three hours during the day as the wholesale price of power goes negative

This opinion piece is typical of the AI hype genre.

First, it makes huge assertions: AI increases productivity, that it "fosters innovation," and so forth, without citing any sources for those assertions.

Second, it ignore the enormous social and environmental costs of LLM and such.
