The funny part about this is that this maneuvers things to a point where one of the potential outcomes is about as close to the joked about "undo the 2024 election button" as is practicable.
It's already been rejected but it's genuinely wild to see people calling a proposed deal that consisted of DEMOCRATS GETTING THE EXACTLY WHAT THEY WERE DEMANDING a cave.
SCHUMER is on the floor now making this offer to end the shutdown:

Clean CR
Bipartisan "minibus" of approps bills
1-year ACA funding extension
Bipartisan cmte to negotiate on health care

"This is a reasonable offer that reopens the government, deals with health care affordability."

The Urbanist (which is a good publication!) continues to blow its coverage of Tacoma politics. The races between Ibsen/Hines and Palmer/Johnston had very little to do with housing or urbanism.

I'm starting an anti-faction faction and you're all invited (except for the grifters)
The factional grifters will hate this, but the Mamdani-Spanberger-Sherrill axis actually suggests the outlines of a broad, emerging Dem coalition organized around both anti-Trump *and* affordability politics, not a party bitterly divided against itself.
These big wins will embolden Dems to take on Trump's lawbreaking and show there's a price for GOP enabling of him. Folks hate to hear this, but normal patterns are asserting themselves: Liberalism isn't dead, Rs are likely to lose in 2026, and Trump is really unpopular, not a magical exception.

New Seattle CHOP videos contradict city’s narratives on teen death
A father’s civil suit reveals videos that could change how the public views the unsolved, highly politicized death of his son. A trial set for next week could be the public’s last chance for answers.

if you think Charlie Kirk is some obscure figure that only hyper online plugged in people know about then I have bad news about who is living in a bubble
Kirk's murder is getting the treatment it's getting because media types still live on Nazi Twitter and have a warped idea of his significance -- and the significance of a lot of stuff -- to regular people.

It’s not simply important to denounce political violence because it looks bad not to. It’s the right thing to do on the merits. Even more specifically to this moment it’s important because the forces of fascism are inherently better at political violence than the forces of civic democracy.

US to get 15% profit sharing from China sales

Chat is it a good idea to divert more than half of the soybean oil we produce in the United States to feed vehicles instead of people, necessitating more soy-related deforestation in other countries to supply the world’s growing demand for soy as food and feed?
Biofuel demand to soak up more than half of US soyoil production next year, USDA says
U.S. biofuel makers will consume more than half of all soybean oil produced in the United States next year as a recent flurry of federal policy moves has transformed the sector, including higher blending mandates and curbs on foreign biofuel imports and feedstocks, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said on Friday.

Took some time to listen to Tacoma's new urban design review board do their first public review of a proposed multi-family housing project.

Can't say it did much to overcome the concerns about the process. Lots of petty concerns and nitpicky questions. Not what we need in a housing crisis.
