I’m very proud to announce that the organization I co-lead/co-founded has received a $1.25 million grant to expand our efforts to families throughout Massachusetts. We can now support more families with financial assistance after they lose a loved one to overdose.

Yesterday I spoke to @nbcboston.com, arguing that break-ins, property crimes, and robberies would decrease at Mass. and Cass if we better invested in public health programs, as opposed to arrests, involuntary commitments, & jail. When unhoused people’s basic needs are met, crime goes down.

Instead of investing in proven solutions, the Trump administration is doubling down on cruel policies that strip people of their rights.

The solution to homelessness is harm reduction policy and secure housing — not jail time or forced treatment.

My new op-ed in The Boston Globe arguing that increased arrests & involuntary commitments of unhoused people who use drugs will not improve homelessness or public drug use. www.bostonglobe.com/2025/08/12/o...

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. I grew up poor with mental health & substance use issues, I can't tell you how much basic economic support helped me to get more healthy and balanced. So many low-income people are lazily pathologized by professionals who don't understand the burden of poverty.

Time traveler from 1999 lands in 2025, sees this picture in the news. Also, this room probably smells wild. Like Axe Body Spray, energy drinks, and cigarettes.

When you look at the list of institutions they want to defund: libraries, museums, the Smithsonian, public schools, PBS, NPR, archives, you can clearly see that the real threat to an authoritarian regime is an informed and educated public

Trump’s Secretary of Defense caught using secret, unauthorized, and unsecured app to text about war plans in advance, while accidentally adding a JOURNALIST to the text thread.

The theatrics of this is so absurd given that it was a McDonalds employee who caught this guy. Like, let’s pretend to be tough GI Joe’s now that the McDonald’s employee did our job for us. The (federally indicted) Mayor of New York was in the back of this pack.

This is such irresponsible reporting... 1) Opvee isn't changing anything except causing harm to PWUD 2) Why is she doing chest compressions instead of rescue breaths? If this patient bounced back in less than 2 minutes, I guarantee she was not in cardiac arrest.

President-Elect Trump is upset that China is not executing drug dealers. This is coming from a man who took out a full-page NY Times ad calling for the death penalty of the Exonerated Five.

This is how he plans to handle drug policy - more draconian tactics from the failed “war on drugs” playbook.

Now that harm reduction is more widespread than ever in the US, overdoses are starting to inch down from record highs. Ironically, this is happening as cities are starting to scale back or fully eliminate the very harm reduction policies that have saved lives.
