#COMPANIONSofCHRISTMAS: Mrs. Claus!

Mrs. Claus was once better known by her given name, Alba. She was the nymph of the silver fir tree, a captain in the retinue of the goddess Artemis, and she first met Saint Nicolas when he came to do battle with her Lady. 1/

Look, I’m always gonna love those Disney dubs of the Ghibli films with the behind-the scenes featurettes. Not sure they’re the highest quality dubs ever (the men almost always act like their direction was “Valium”), but you can tell that the performers were all just happy to be there.
Amazon has rolled out AI dubbed anime and I’m truly appalled. Like it or loathe it, the medium has a rich, incredible history of English performances. There’s already a million reasons to hate Amazon, but fuck me.

I wanna hear about your fav dub. Your fav VA. Let’s celebrate these folks. 💜

Making the turkey for my in-laws this year. So far, I think we’re off to a good start.

America’s Test Kitchen has a recipe for a braised turkey. As I’ve botched whole birds in years past, this is a safer way for me to approach the bird.

So I love superheroes… AND this is a huge problem with the genre.

Very curious to see what an anti-fascist superhero could look like.

I don’t know if it’s a hot take to say The Lego Movie was better than Barbie.

But it was.
Watched “The Lego Movie” with my kids (their first time, my Nth) and am newly amazed by how over-stuffed with ideas it is. You know how everybody was so excited that “Barbie” was a toy movie that was so smart and relevant? Miller and Lord did it better and ten years earlier.

Speaking as a long time Batman fan: the best way to cope with the massive inconsistencies of really long, serialized stories is to just cling to the stuff you love and ignore the rest.

(Although it’s REALLY hard to ignore Jason Todd anymore.)
The “Jack Canon” pan-medium SW order:

* ROTJ
* ESB
* Andor
* R1
* Doctor Aphra omnibus

* Thrawn trilogy
* Rebels
* Dark Forces
* The Mandalorian

NEW: Churches in Charlotte are hosting trainings on how to response to ICE agents — with *hundreds* filling pews.

At one training, a child led those gathered in "This Little Light of Mine" — but changed the words to “All around Border Patrol, I’m gonna let it shine" religionnews.com/2025/11/20/a...
As ICE descends on Charlotte, faith leaders draw on other cities' actions to aid immigrants
(RNS) — As many as 500 people, a mix of clergy and other volunteers, have appeared at the training sessions on how to counter ICE.

Probably well-known history for most D&D fans “on here,” but a good read nonetheless.

Especially love how Serwer gives the final word to a black woman.
The far right is obsessed with Lord of the Rings and Musk keeps posting about "hobbits" because modern scientific racism owes more to fantasy worlds and gaming systems than genetic science, and they see both as effective mediums for right-wing propaganda www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/1...

May God see his work done through these hands elected tonight. May he bring hope to our hearts, and lift the veil of sorrow that has covered this country in fear and hatred. May this be the first wave of a tide that lifts us out of the morass and into the light of freedom. Let's Goooooo!

This is the sort of art I want from UB - recognizable character designs done in a solid Magic style.
When I was studying the new cards, I had to stop and admire this artwork. Not only because it was my cosplay from MagicCon Atlanta, Mai. I can picture this fight from the show in my head & it's so cool to see it in a more Magic style of art.

And so we press on, folks, tremendous boats against a very unfair current, you’ve never seen anything like it, a rigged current, quite frankly, borne back with no ceasing whatsoever into a past like you would not believe.

Aaaaaand DONE for the season.

The fact that I finished this up AFTER trick or treating hopefully shows dedication to the cause of Inktober.

Who I’m showing that dedication to? God, I guess.

Soundtrack: This Is Halloween (the Manson version at first, then the original as a palate cleanser.)

Considering how big a rush job this was, I’m pretty pleased with the final product.

Also? If you haven’t read Bone, it’s probably worth your time to pick it up.

Soundtrack: Avatar: The Last Airbender.

This is supposed to be April O’Neil from TMNT. I modeled the character after the yellow jumpsuit version from the 80s cartoon, only to realize that I actually kinda hate that outfit? So I lost the plot a bit. Still kinda like it.

Abolish ICE is the moderate position.
I'm shaking almost too hard to type. I entered SLC airport and heard screams and cries for help. I could see people gathered around, watching. I sped over to discover this woman face down on the floor, four grown men pushing her down, while she cried "HELP ME" and pled for her child.

I’ve never seen a satisfactory answer to this question, from the media nor from any elected official.
My question to the author, whenever I see one of these op-eds, is to ask the authors what, specifically, they believe the Biden administration's policies were, and why they believe those policies failed.
