As October baseball fades into the rearview, Canada’s sporting focus shifts to our November passion: the CFL playoffs! The Blue Bombers go to Montreal to face the Alouettes, followed by the Stampeders taking on the Lions in Vancouver. Canada’s favourites Saskatchewan and Hamilton await the winners!

Bike lane path map of South Etobicoke, we got this map from our local library. Circled is what caused the provincial government to put in leg to tear up municipal bike lanes across the province. As you can see, many alternatives for cyclists in that area!

God dammit. Timing couldn’t be worse but here goes.

Chuck Schumer and I are launching our new podcast “Soul Deep: A Weekly Deep Dive Into the Music of Collective Soul” tomorrow. I do NOT support his latest decision and want to make clear this is strictly a music podcast. Please check it out

I think concerts is one of the most obvious purchases we see richer consumers price out more modest earners. The prices have gone way up and it seems sales haven’t gone down, which suggests either we’ll pay anything for a show or that the same people are going to everything.
America's richest 10% earners are responsible for almost half of all spending in the country

Hot take, but assuming I still had voting rights and was also forcibly prevented from fleeing and was otherwise compelled to comply with whatever horrific situation I was now forced to live in, I would not vote for the Democrats, but some makeshift Canadian separatist party. Always and forever.
I get that they’re doing this mostly as a weird flex to look tough to their base of incel losers.

But if they actually got this — ten new states full of voters who hate Trump, with 20 senators and who knows how many House members — it would absolutely end them.
This is Andrew Beck.

Beck is Vice President of the Claremont Institute, one of the intellectual braintrusts of radical Trumpism.

He's been all in on the anchuluss of Canada.

Watching NBC Nightly News, Kids Edition. They report on the wildfires, but also explain how wildfires start generally. Then they go to the winter storms, and talk about flus spreading in that weather. And then gives tips on avoiding sickness, and what to do if you get sick.

Adult news needs this.

Say what you will about the bait language…. Where are the non-AI new users to Facebook or Instagram supposed to come from? About the only way to grow is to bring back users who gave up previously, is it not?

The Saskatchewan map he did is incredible and the languages of Toronto project is amazing.
This small-town map guy visited Toronto. Here’s what he tells us about our city
What insights can a cartographer from Val Marie, Sask., pop. 120, provide about Canada’s most populous city?

Having autoplay as the default for videos is a REALLY bad move.

You can disable autoplay for videos — it’s in the “Accessibility Settings.”

(While you’re there you can also enable “require alt text before posting” if you haven’t yet)
bsky.app Bluesky @bsky.app · Sep 11
Quick facts:

• Each post can contain one video.
• Videos can be up to 60 seconds long.
• By default, videos will auto-play. You can turn off auto-play in Settings.

A guy with this lengthy of a driving violations record should never be allowed to hold a driver’s licence or own a vehicle. Insurance should be impossible to purchase. But every jurisdiction in North America would have let him drive on Thursday. www.dispatch.com/story/news/l...

A bit surprised the PWHL went with unlimited 5v5 OT for the playoffs. If I could start over with a new league I’d probably pull a skater at the end of every period, go 4v4 in 2OT, then 3v3 in 3OT.
