What is happening to the mental health of young women?
Society seems to have great difficulty in talking about the mental health of women just now. That’s problematic when the latest figures show the gender gap between men and women remains and is especially stark for young girls and women. The proportion of all those aged 16-24 with a common mental health condition rose from 17.5% in 2007 to 25.8% in 2023-4. However, the proportion of young women reporting a mental health condition is now the highest on record, at 36.1% in comparison with 16.3% of men. Yet this news went almost unregistered by the media in Britain at the end of June.

This is dystopian, & could lead to a situation where it’s almost impossible to get time off work if you’re seriously unwell & almost impossible to get disability benefits in the first place.

CONJECTURE:
So basically as we know the 4+ rule is dead.
The Timms review will be from August and take months.
That puts back any PIP changes at all from November 2026 to a later date.
Worse case scenario is late 2027 for BEGINNING PIP changes but would take ⏰ to roll out.
