There have been lots of deportations near me recently. Just found out a parent of some students at my school got deported last week. He'd been here for over three decades. Fuck this world sucks.

Two years ago tonight we were setting up dumpster dived pink tents for migrants in the freezing cold and wind in the desert, they were held there for days without food water or shelter other than what we could share with them. That was the Biden admin, in case anyone thinks it was all good before.

Maybe this is just cope, but I wonder if the march towards more and more surveillance will have an unintended backlash. I know the more I realize how much of my data is out there, the less I feel the need to hide what I think about the state. If they already know it, I might as well tell others too.

I will never understand teachers that act like a dictator in the classroom. I'm far from perfect, but it's our job to mold to their needs where we can. It's not their job to mold to ours.

I also have no nostalgia for the road to fascism, which is a trap I think a lot of liberal and progressive folks are falling into—romanticizing the conditions that preceded this moment of acceleration. The path that led to this mess is not the way out.

Trying to get people to actually do something is exhausting. I've been trying to get people to get together to talk about what we can meaningfully change in our area, but the only person who actually showed up was a BlueAnon person who was shocked when I said I'm not a fan of the Dems.

Anyone willing to share tips/resources for organizing in rural spaces? I've been trying to get the ball rolling on a few things but I'm struggling to figure it out. I can't find anyone in the area organizing other than official Reps and Dems. My Google searches haven't helped much.
