This tells you that Vance thinks the MAGA base isn’t just full of diehard racists; he thinks it’s full of diehard racists who are also too cowardly to be openly racist if they think people might disapprove

reckon i'm going to rewatch jacques tati's Playtime again tonight, an oftentimes deliberately slow movie with virtually no discernible dialogue that also happens to be transcendentally funny and the greatest achievement in cinematic history
I was asked what I thought now that #pluribus has reached seven episodes.
I’m not seeing any of the liberal subtext some folks are seeing. But I’ve learned to watch the show by fast forwarding through the long, artsy stretches where no one speaks.
There were exactly 2 lines of interesting dialogue.

The Sheriff, Adam King, is himself facing sexual harassment, retaliation, and perjury charges.

I’ll link an article about it in a thread below.

On the one hand, I'm so proud and in awe of these young people who are taking care of their community.

On the other, I can't believe in 2025 that women have been reduced to starting underground birth control networks

My best advice for parents re: harmful content: show genuine interest in the stuff your kid is watching and doing online.

Let them talk your ear off about Minecraft and Roblox and the funny video they just watched. Make them feel excited to share with you, vs making them feel ashamed or judged
