I had to explain to a few of my white students what a sundown town is when I was discussing the origins of my dog (its crazy but yeah, my dogs origins are genuinely problematic and also crazily rooted in racism) and the looks on some of their faces were so telling.

The only reason I have relatives in Philly is 100% b/c my grandaddy’s brother whistled @ a white woman. He fled Alabama hopping a train & didnt get off until Philly for fear of getting lynched. And instead the Klan nearly lynched our family in retaliation for *that!*

I am (1) generation from that.

The Crow's Judgement

They have pale faces with glowing eyes and sharp teeth, and two long horns on each head. Each has a pair of brightly coloured wings of red, orange, and green. The figure on the left is attempting to upset the balance of the scales. The middle figure claws at the basket with the heart inside. The rightmost figure loosely holds gold coins in a hand raised towards the crow figure. Behind this scene is a landscape of many fields, paths, and woods stretching out into the distance. In the sky are distant storm clouds lit by an evening sun. Above these clouds and the wings of the crow are many bright stars.

Happy birthday to me!

In 2021 I started to draw a nice summer pic of my ocs for my birthday every year. This year I sadly don’t have the capacities to create one and I truly miss it.
Even more so a reason to enjoy the ones I already did!
Digital art of original characters Aran and Tao as young teens in the backyard of a neighbor. It’s a summer scene and the colors are warm and saturated. The backyard only has a few plants which are already yellow. The feeling of a hot high summer day. Aran stands next to an old car that’s up in the backyard to be repaired and is all excited to learn about it, leaning over the engine. An older man, their neighbor, stands next to him and explains the car for him. Tao sits on the roof of the car and throws a basketball in the air. He isn’t really excited about learning about cars but wants to spend time with Aran Digital art of original characters Aran and Tao as young adults on a warm summer day sitting on an electrical box in front of a basketball court. They both have a fresh drink and they enjoy their time, smile, and talk to each other. It’s a warm day but not super hot. It’s morning and the shadows are still long but you can tell it’s already very warm. The two men hold hands and Tao gets excited over all the fresh produce.
