I sometimes write plays. I used to act and direct. I try to be kind as much as I can.

Amazed and happy that Maine rejected voter ID referendum, and also voted to strengthen red flag laws.
And, even though I'm a Mainer, Mamdani's win in New York gave me hope for the first time in a while that people really can have the power.
And he quoted Debs in his victory speech!

I like Graham Platner, who is running for the Democratic nom to go against Susan Collins. I firmly believe he can unseat her, so long as the DNC doesn't try to sabotage him in the primary. He has real momentum, and just appeared with Bernie at the rally in Portland.

I had a great time reading Lisa Foiles' debut, "Ash Ridley and the Phoenix". Kids and parents will dig it.
As a child, she was on Nickelodeon's "All That" and a cool episode of "Malcolm in the Middle". She has a fun podcast, too.
I was impressed with her storytelling here.

Perhaps the most important book you can read right now. It's not easy, but I agree with every word. And Omar El Akkad is a beautiful writer--- this makes me want to read his novels.
Please read this book.

Always nice to read a book you expected to enjoy, and then find early on that you REALLY like it, and by the end, it is a new favorite. Peter S. Beagle's "The Last Unicorn" is told with wit, imagination, and love. It explores what it means to be mortal and what it means to be human. Pure magic.

This doesn't make any of us safe. This doesn't help any of us. My heart breaks every single day when I see what is happening in Gaza. I feel helpless. I know many of you do too.

But when people enact violence in our name, it makes everyone less safe and it makes peace less likely.

Antisemitism breeds extremism, cruelty, and conspiracy theories. Equating Jewish people with Israel's far-right government inevitably leads to antisemitism.

It leads to innocent people getting hurt, more Jewish organizations being targeted, *and* Netanyahu using fear to gain more control.

Unbelievably horrified by this attack in Boulder. We don’t know the full story of the attacker, but no matter what it is, let me be clear: Senseless, antisemitic attacks do not help Palestinians, Jews, or Israelis.

Committing terror attacks against people standing for hostages is disgusting.

In a time where people get news from Fox and TikTok, facts are becoming an endangered species under Trump.

Oklahoma's public school history teachers will soon be required to teach the disproved conspiracy theory that the Democratic Party stole the 2020 election from Trump.

Republicans are working to destroy Medicaid to give tax cuts to billionaires.

We cannot turn our backs on the most vulnerable people in America.

We must say NO more tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy and NO cuts to Medicaid.

This is my third Grady Hendrix, and it's safe to say that I'm a fan.
"Witchcraft for Wayward Girls" has an excellent premise, with compelling, honest characters.
The book is about agency over one's body and mind. Though set in 1970, it is still a timely read. That's not good, but the book sure is.

What an embarrassing, nasty country we are. The White House acting a troll online, flaunting the fact they are disregarding a SCOTUS ruling.
What would happen to any citizen defying a SCOTUS ruling?
On one hand, it’s understandable to be sick about this Reddit troll behavior from the White House.

I actually thing the public sympathy for Abrego Garcia and his plight is not something the Trump regime counted on.. and they are crashing out.
The only appropriate response to this is impeachment and removal from office. Every moment the political press spends spinning out theories about 2026 and immigration polling is a minute they are not spending asking Republicans in Congress about their plans to enforce the rule of law

We cannot normalize the Abrego Garcia case. Remember, the Nazi extermination camps weren’t in Germany. They were placed in occupied territories to strip people of legal protections. Trump’s regime is using the same strategy by removing people from U.S. jurisdiction. They won't stop here. Stay alert.
