The era we are living in offers too many illustrations of greed, narcissism, and hatefulness. But I still believe we can recommit ourselves to serving the common good of all Americans. [Artwork by Jennifer Bloomer]

(🧵) I’ve never—in 30 years in journalism—published a report like this: one that could genuinely bring hope. I spent the last 15 hours curating and labeling photos from hundreds of No Kings Day protests. It’s the largest archive of its kind and it has *lots* of Easter eggs (memes, an essay and more).
Over 250 Photos From Around the Nation and the World From the Historic “No Kings Day” Protests
Almost no one showed up to Donald Trump’s surprisingly timid, depressing, and generally lackluster birthday party in Washington, but protests against him were bursting at the seams across the globe.

1/ Margaret MacMillan writes, "As a historian, I study those moments in the past when an old order decays beyond the point of return & a new one emerges, but I never expected to live through one. I should have. . .

Americans once associated spheres of influence with a cynical, volatile European past. Now Washington is resurrecting them.

Our film #UNFIT (2020) helped shine a light on several key terms (like Malignant Narcissism) and tactics (like Gaslighting).

Here's a short excerpt from #UNFIT about Gaslighting - which is something we now see from the Right ... all day, every single goddam day.

Remember - this was from 2020:

This is Winston Churchill visiting the White House during World War II.

Funny how he isn’t wearing a suit either. Almost like he was a wartime leader defending his country from being slaughtered and wiped out by an authoritarian aggressor.

I can't think of a faster way to undermine the country than simultaneously firing government workers, cutting scientific research, rolling back protections on public health & environment, & cutting essential services. It's like the US was defeated in war and is being occupied by a hostile enemy.
