🌱 Now, I have a problem. A good kind of problem. What would make a nice border next to my lavender patch? I could plant kale and chard … Or a mix tall gladiolus/dwarf kale. Or sweet williams. Or wallflowers… Something bright and compact because behind it is a row of hydrangeas and evergreen trees.
🌱I’ve dug up my purple chives. Most will be composted coz they’re not healthy anymore but some younger ones about 25 clumps are replanted as a new border. I’m also relocating some black eyed susans, gallarda, and foxgloves to a new plot. Glad the weather has been mild so far.

🌱 I need a scream room in the upside bonkers world. Ugh!

Anyway, here are some blanket flowers; still in bloom in late November. I’ll have to plant more of this for next year.🤞

The SecState explanation of the essence & origin of the 28 pt plan presented to Ukraine BY THE US is a strong indicator of the lack of competence of those representing our nation in these efforts.

Russia does these things. It’s well known. Smart negotiators know not to let them happen.

Latest pitcher on my Nepenthes x Dyeriana. ~40 cm tall.

Just an inspired bit of plant breeding by George Tivey. Description was first published in 1900, so he presumably made the cross sometime in the early/mid 1890s.

Nepenthes (northiana x maxima) x (rafflesiana x veitchii)

🌱 This was my mix cosmos patch this summer. Mostly pink. I think my fave remains Xzenia and apricot lemonade.

Kansas’ Marion County paid $3M for forgetting the First Amendment.

After their illegal raid on the Marion County Record in 2023, local cops got their First Amendment lesson the expensive way.

Police elsewhere should take note.

Yay! My order of bulbs just arrived. Some daffodils but I'm most excited about the great camas bulbs! Got a bunch of them and I'm planning on planting them in clumps between some of our fruit trees. Great camas (Camassia leichtlinii) is a native flower here in western WA. The bulbs are edible too! 🌱

🌱 Goodbye, goodbye sweet tomatoes! I missed you already! It’s been windy and rainy again but we have some sunny days ahead.

🌱 #SixOnSaturday. We got rain and strong winds again today. I think we’re going to have a dry Monday, then more rain for a week!!! Enjoy the flowers from this summer.

Moon and Stars Watermelon🌘🌙✨First year trellising like this, looks super cool, especially the starry leaves on this varietal. 🌱 We also did some pumpkins on the same fence and they turned out really cool too. Had they gotten too heavy we would’ve made a hammock sling to the espalier cables.

🌱 The artichoke is losing its “hair.” You can see one of the seeds getting ready to fly away on an adventure.

🌱 Happy Friday! Just about all but a few of the columnar apples have been harvested. One variety ripens later than the rest. All are about five ft tall this year.

🌱 Most of the toms are gone now. I still have nasturtium stragglers; they did really well this year as trap plants in the vege plots. I can’t do without them and marigolds in the garden.
