KIM KITSURAGI - "What is it, detective? Can you make it out?"

BULLET - "if you read this you are gay lmao"

1. "It, um, doesn't say anything."

2. "Transgender ideology. My old foe."

3. [Espirit de Corps - Medium 10] "I think you should read it for yourself, Kim."

I'm sorry but the apparent implication that kirk was killed with the furry meme bullet is breaking me

[guy shoots right-winger]
the left: this is awful, even though that guy constantly called for us to be murdered
the right: we want the left murdered
also the right: leftist violence is the real problem here

The firing of Matthew Dowd for speaking the truth proves that. He spoke the truth. Kirk was an arsonist. He got caught in the fire he himself started. He without reservation or common sense supported his version of the 2nd amendment. Full Stop. A version that allowed his murder.

Okay, I need to explain it to people again:

'Complying in advance' contains the words 'In advance' because they're doing it before they need to, usually because they want to.

If a store pulls all queer content for no reason because they think it might be a problem in future? THAT is 'in advance'.

Full offense but if this is the kind of shit you say about a black trans woman where even a passing familiarity with her would make this blatant attempt to scrounge up more donations insane to say I'm just going to assume you actually did not vet any of your other claims & are a bad journalist

Same during my call- the wording I used was “non-explicit, legal, non-adult LGBT content”, and I got back the response that “yes, stripe is blocking this. We’re a private company, we make our own rules about it.” Was hung up on when I asked why.

I think there's a very delicate line between "being disappointed at Itch for not being prepared to handle shit they should have been better-prepared for" and "relentlessly yelling in public at the only games storefront that doesn't completely suck shit to make sure we never get a second one"

People have been talking about how this is bad because it has the potential to be weaponized against queer people. That's true, but actually it's bad because I don't need the nanny state, or worse, the nanny market telling me I can't watch a consenting adult get choked out a little. Fuck that!

I don't really care about porn most of the time, but you had better goddamn believe that I am going to resist any effort to control what I can and cannot see in my own home* because I'm not an eleventh century serf.

*oblig: provided no one was harmed in the making of it. But that's already illegal.

Currently on the phone with Visa

Instead of starting with a complaint, I approached this as a Confused American Consumer who doesn't understand why they can't buy things off a website they use

The call center rep immediately asked if it was about Steam/itch

Entire thread of people missing the part where Itch says, in clear language, that it's not them enforcing those rules, but payment processors

Already seen someone angry at Itch as "a platform that could take all your money at any moment without notice", while it's not Itch's decision to do so

Important to note among the itch drama: you gotta pressure payment processors to undo the same bans applied to Patreon, Gumroad, OF, and the many adult sites they already hit in the years leading up to this, too.

It CANNOT stop with itch.

Anyone keeping up with the itch/payment processor stuff:
The new guidelines are directly from the processors. Folks from Itch are not fond of this either. The discord has pretty much entirely shifted to organizing push back against mc/visa/stripe/paypal.

No nice way to say this: if you are, at this point, directing any public anger towards Itch instead of towards Paypal, Stripe, and credit card companies, there is no meaningful difference between you and a paid op. You are running interference for people who want us dead, for free

I think it's simultaneously true that itch is severely overcorrecting for the sake of being better safe than sorry while still believing their hand was forced and done so in response to equally vague definitions of payment processor's icks and legal definitions of illicit content.

Valve just updated their Steam rules to ban content that “may violate rules set by payment processors or banks.” Sounds boring. It’s not. It’s the quiet normalization of financial censorship and it’s going to hurt LGBTQ+ games and devs

I’m gonna make it simple since it seems a lot of the liberals on this site right now are having trouble with this. It was illegal to protect Anne Frank and it was legally required to turn her in to the Nazis.
If your reliance on the law dictates your morals you have already lost to the fascists.
