She voted to "[honor] Charlie Kirk’s commitment to the constitutional principles of civil discussion and debate between all people of the United States, regardless of political affiliation."
You can condemn his murder without honoring his lying, hateful, gish gallop.

[guy shoots right-winger]
the left: this is awful, even though that guy constantly called for us to be murdered
the right: we want the left murdered
also the right: leftist violence is the real problem here

The firing of Matthew Dowd for speaking the truth proves that. He spoke the truth. Kirk was an arsonist. He got caught in the fire he himself started. He without reservation or common sense supported his version of the 2nd amendment. Full Stop. A version that allowed his murder.

I'm in the same boat. This whole thing sucks and it's worse that it's up to folks on the internet to push back.
Like, Itch, I get it, even if I do think they've fumbled communications. Steam though, they made 10 billion last year and still only made a statement to Kotaku after being called out.

I hopped into the itch discord after this started off and was genuinely surprised. They basically handed the discord to the community and allowed them to organize, including rallying around alternatives to Itch.

Steam's comment was that they tried to get in contact with MasterCard directly multiple times and were basically ignored, so I can only imagine the same thing happened to Itch.

My understanding is they were basically told 'remove any content that violates our [nebulous] guidelines immediately or we're dropping you as a client.' Just going off of the way Leafo has talked about it, I think they were also instructed to not talk about it by Stripe.

Okay, I need to explain it to people again:

'Complying in advance' contains the words 'In advance' because they're doing it before they need to, usually because they want to.

If a store pulls all queer content for no reason because they think it might be a problem in future? THAT is 'in advance'.

Same during my call- the wording I used was “non-explicit, legal, non-adult LGBT content”, and I got back the response that “yes, stripe is blocking this. We’re a private company, we make our own rules about it.” Was hung up on when I asked why.

People have been talking about how this is bad because it has the potential to be weaponized against queer people. That's true, but actually it's bad because I don't need the nanny state, or worse, the nanny market telling me I can't watch a consenting adult get choked out a little. Fuck that!
