I don’t talk about my time as a servicemember bc it was a blur & I sometimes just completely forget (trauma training™️), but every chance I get to talk to a Black youth who is thinking about the commitment, I offer my support (financial, network, mentoring, etc.)—
and I tell them not to do it.

I know there are some pedagogical folks out there who don’t fuck with rote memory but there’s a reason that as an interventionist, my cohort of kids grades 2-4 showed sustained math improvements over time because we did entry/exit math drills EVERYDAY.
So basically the kids are stupid but also they’re also not being taught properly.
