not that antidepressants are substance abuse, but I don’t need them anymore since being on vyvanse
more relevant: am now generally a lot less prone to the kind of depressive-impulsive behavior that can easily escalate to physical harm

People with ADHD who are properly medicated appear to have much lower substance abuse rates than people who aren’t medicated, per this study.

It is very hard to relax if you’ve spent a lot of your life constantly re-learning the message of “at any time, you will likely be confronted with news that your horrible ADHD brain forgot to do something incredibly important, and now everyone is mad at you.”
