The only people I know who speed read poetry have also recommended the poetry of a certain person I won’t mention but whose name rhymes with Loopy Star. And also The 4 Hour Work Week.
Every so often I remember a poet who lightheartedly made fun of me for taking such a long time to read a book of poetry. I think of it whenever I take my sweet ass time reading anything. I do read poetry more slowly than I read prose, and I like it that way.

Both times I've been on SNAP, I was recently laid off from Tech jobs in the Bay Area. Nothing in my life looked different, but I knew my cupboards were bare.
It annoys me when people say “they’re on SNAP but their hair and nails are done and they’ve got tattoos”. It’s extremely normal to do your own hair and buy press on nails, and tattoos literally last forever. What do tattoos someone got 10 years ago have to do with them needing to eat now

While this is hopeful, I HIGHLY doubt they'll follow through. They'll find a really good reason to demonize the protestors for being "unreasonably violent"
I just watched the video of the Portland Cop threatening to arrest an ICE agent if they drive their truck through a crowd. Now I see this where the General of the Oregon National Guard says if they get called up they will protect the protesters. People are fed up.

My chronic illness curse is I overcompensate because I feel guilty for not “doing enough” which makes people think I’m *way* more capable of doing stuff than I actually am, so they ask for more, so I feel more guilty, so I overcompensate more. It’s a real mystery why I keep crashing!

Hot take: if you're capable of impregnating somebody, and you're anti-abortion, you don't deserve to be dating anyone who can become pregnant. At all. Imagine willingly coexisting alongside someone who sees more value in a cluster of cells than in your own life. And then we MARRY these men? Wtf
