I get enough emails for free (or nearly so) books that include "steamy romance" (best not to ask why). Of these, I really wonder how many are just chatGPT hallucinating porn.

One day shy of 2200 days, I cancelled my Duolingo subscription and deleted the app. Their business decision to invest in AI over human employees is the sole reason for this.
April 29, 2025 at 11:49 PM
Welp, I've only been using it the last 2100 days to keep a streak alive...which is a poor reason to continue to use it (and the way in which I have been using it isn't really conducive to actual language learning).
Lingodeer, Memrise, and Drops are all excellent one-to-one(ish) replacements for Duolingo.

If you want something a little more “meaty,” I’d recommend Rosetta Stone or, my personal favorite, Pimsleur.

One notable flaw in the "fighting antisemitism" argument was always that Trump is a famous antisemite and his administration is lousy with antisemites.

With Trump's Tariffs, it'll make BJJ gis that aren't Origin the same price as Origin. So there's that.

for anyone following along with our roof saga (I may or may not have said anything here, I can't remember), when last we left off: the roofers did a great job, and their PM is the best contractor manager I've ever worked with.

I found Cadbury Dark Chocolate mini eggs at the store today while running an errand. I always forget that Cadbury Dark is approx. equivalent to Hersey's milk.

The piston that controls the height of my chair is acting odd. It was a used Aeron that I bought at the beginning of the pandemic, so it wouldn’t surprise me if that component is wearing out.. I wonder if I can find a replacement part, and figure out how to install it.

I would kindly ask the media to please respect Boston's rich cultural tradition of destroying the property of evil corporations in protest.

We've literally been doing this for 252 years and do not intend to stop anytime soon.

an email I received today seemed to indicate that the top 10% of all wage earners (the 250k/yr club), are responsible for slightly less than 50% of all domestic purchasing thus "they are driving the economy".
Their logical fallacy: false equivalence. Having money is required to spend money.

My 15mo has hit the point in his development where most days feel like we’re just chasing him or carrying him all day.
His current favorite game is climbing deep into the dogs’ crates, sitting down and giggling hoping we chase him in there.

I'm going back to work now, but I just came here to say that while it may seem like a hellscape now, imagine what fun we'll be having in 3 years! it can only get worse! "Better" is something we've collectively voted against since the late 90s.
