I have said repeatedly (as many of you also have) what a shame it is that Trump just will never admit to being wrong, because it just keeps making things worse, in particular, in the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia.

Great article here, both as to the specifics and as a symbol of the regime writ large.

Interestingly enough, the first headline of this, judging from the URL that archive[.]is picked up, was "The Conservative Movement's Brain Death."

Anyway, it's tempting to snicker "you're just now figuring this out?" but the article is a pretty good piece of recent history review.

You've probably heard that Trump is down a billion or so since September, due almost entirely to the #crypto crash. His sons are down hundreds of millions, too.

Here are some entertaining details, via @carlquintanilla.bsky.social:

Grokipedia still terrible

@robynelyse.bsky.social summarizes an academic study of Grokipedia. Even worse than I expected. It's hard to believe Elno thinks anyone besides the fanboi fringe is going to take this nonsense seriously.

That "Gmail is going to train its AI by reading your email!!!" scare turns out not to be true.
I saw a lot of people send the original article my way, which i did not share because it seemed like obvious bullshit. Now that has been shown to be true. I know people are worried about AI stuff, but try to be a bit more careful about what's real and what's not.
If you have been sharing that Malwarebytes article on the Gmail thing, you should note the giant correction up top.

Saw this yesterday. This time I'm keeping it.

"Ms. Nuzzi’s lawyer, Ari Wilkenfeld ... went on to say that his client would 'not dignify efforts to impugn her character with any future response.'"

That's Leavitt-level gaslighting.

Signs of panic

Mamdani owning Trump today in the Oval Office and Marj announcing her resignation has definitely shook the GOP. One way to tell: all of the sudden, my FB timeline is filled with ads from Republican members of Congress. Including Mike Johnson, twice so far. 1/2

Maybe you don't want to read the whole review right now, but I wish everyone who rants about NYT articles based only on screenshots of headlines would click through and read the beginning of Dan's post.

My sympathies, Dan.
I reviewed Hillary Clinton and Keren Yarhi-Milo’s edited volume "Inside the Situation Room" for @foreignpolicy.com. The book manages to be interesting and absurd at the same time. danieldrezner.substack.com/p/look-whos-...

Likely you already agree, but this is still worth reading, for its righteousness as much as anything else.

Also, worth having handy, in case you have one of THOSE aunts or uncles who will be making noise at the Thanksgiving table.

This is depressing as hell.

The overwhelming problem is the guys who make this podcast and the idiots who watch it, but I have to say, the women who go on are part of the problem, too. I could see the first few having a legitimate story about being conned, but that won't fly anymore.
Finally here! I've been working on this article for a few months now.

Whatever podcast clips are ubiquitous, spreading truly vile misogyny everywhere online. But almost nothing is known about the show.

Well, I aim to change that. My investigation.
