I love the Shuri covers for my series. They were so PERFECT for the story. Fun Fact: The illustrator Sam Spratt also did Janelle Monae's Electric Lady album cover.

No.

“DC Mayor Muriel Bowser publicized the fact that violent crime in DC is at a 30 year low.”

Don’t make her statement of fact* sound like an opinion. Especially when that fact is CENTRAL to a major autocratic move by Trump.

Just finished *My Sister, the Serial Killer* and am wanting to talk about it. The audio book was so good, the weight of everything just there, in her voice. The ambiguous nature of what really happened there at the end. Just. Want to Discuss.

The whole fucking purpose of the 60 vote set up in the Senate is to force compromise. So, force MAGA to compromise. #NoMAGAMurderBudget

I hate it that all the discussion is about whether the Democrats should help pass a crap bill rather than being about the Republicans proposing a crap bill in the first place.

I love this and I know I am not adding anything to Tobias' very wise thread, but this is why I usually say "conflict, tension, mystery, and/or uncertainty" when I do writing talks or classes. If a story is moving, it can move because of any of those things.
I've been talking in more interviews about my antipathy towards the concept of 'conflict' as the base unit of plot, and how I think Aristotle's very old idea has actually damaged us because that quickly becomes story = plot = conflict = violence.

I say that as a fan of fictional violence.

If you voted by mail in big chunks of California, in Denver's northern suburbs, or in parts of Arizona, the final breakdown of the U.S. House may come down to whether your ballot encountered any issue — and, if so, whether you 'cure' it. So be sure to look into it.

Flojaune Cofer, an epidemiologist running for mayor today, views Sacramento’s homelessness crisis as a public health crisis.

Her plan? Prioritize prevention and stabilization.

Heading into November, Flojaune Cofer is trying to sell voters on confronting homelessness and gun violence by solving their root causes, rather than ramping up criminalization.
