My mom was disabled and didnt know it until I was almost 14.
She *wanted* to work but after decades of working a lot of jobs, she just couldnt anymore.
As time went on, even with the "upgrade" from welfare to SSI, I had to kick in more and more cash until she died.
SNAP wasnt even adequate.
