Husband, dad, brother, uncle—and now grandpa!
This young woman grew up in my hometown and by all accounts has done every right thing.

It’s unfathomable that people are treated in this inhumane way.
“After Ferreira was detained, Dos Santos Rodrigues said Michael Leavitt Sr. and his father, Bob Leavitt, reached out to her.”

“‘They just kept saying, ‘Tell her to self-deport,’” she recalled. “Self-deport to where? Brazil is not her home.’” www.bostonglobe.com/2025/11/26/m...
‘Brazil is not her home.’ Mother of Karoline Leavitt’s nephew, brought to US as child, detained by ICE. - The Boston Globe
Bruna Ferreira, 33, was brought to the United States as a child in 1998. She is now in removal proceedings in Louisiana.

Before we give Marjorie Taylor Greene a pass, this is her harassing 18-year-old David Hogg while he was in DC lobbying for gun control.

It was a little more than a year after 14 children and three staff were slaughtered at (oh the irony) Marjory Stoneman Douglas High.

To a T: How Phillip Eng got Boston’s subway system back on track

It’s a good, untold story. The T had been on a downward slope for decades.

Goodreads only let me give five stars to “Moby Dick.”

Hardly seems fair.

“Is Ahab, Ahab? Is it I, God, or who, that lifts this arm?”

Reading “Moby Dick” again, for the story, for the characters, and for language like this.

Firing artillery over a highway?

“Now, the California Highway Patrol is reporting that a CHP cruiser parked on an onramp of Interstate 5 was hit by falling shrapnel after an artillery round exploded midair, far earlier than intended, forcing an early end to the artillery demonstration.”

Jayne Anne Phillips “Machine Dreams” moved me beyond words when I read it in graduate school 40 years ago. This wonderful book — Night Watch — is doing the same thing.

We are looking for poems that perform Olympic feats with language that leave the reader in wonder while still alluding to the basic things that make us human.

Send us work that explores October’s theme of space/place!

November’s upcoming theme is community!
