Obviously not an actual dwarf of Erebor. Teacher and Montessorian. Former journalist. Huge #Tolkien fan, especially his works for children. One who enjoys a good TTRPG.

Rereading LoTR for the first time in a few years. Just made it through Moria. Shocking that Moria has about 40 pages. The Balrog? A handful. The Watcher in the Water — 2 pages. That’s the genius. Things that are so iconic need just a brief moment to gain that memorable status.

As #Tolkien became professor of Anglo-Saxon in Oxford century ago, the city’s Morris Motors became Britain’s biggest car maker. There's a certain inevitability he would flourish a poison pen on the topic. I review THE BOVADIUM FRAGMENTS in today's Times. www.thetimes.com/culture/book...

I’m reading Fonstad’s “The Atlas of Middle Earth” for the first time and I can’t remember when I loved a book about Tolkien’s works so much. Thank you, public library.

Had a moment of anxiety today. There was a screen in the background with Rings of Power on. Queued up the amazing soundtrack by @bearmccreary.bsky.social on my phone — now everything is well and calm again.

Now that films released to hold on to Tolkien adaptation rights are back in the public consciousness, I'm reminded of this first adaptation of The Hobbit (1966)

Our chair @shaungunner.bsky.social gives us his thoughts on The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim. What do you think? Do you agree with him? #LOTR #Tolkien www.tolkiensociety.org/blog/2024/12...
Review: The War of the Rohirrim – Middle-earth becomes very middling
Since 2000 we've had 56 video games (including expansions), 1,215 minutes on the big screen, 16 TV episodes, and whole host of board games and card games. With such a huge shortage of adaptations you…

In early 2020, I was teaching students with behavior disabilities. One assaulted me. When admin came, the student said I assaulted them. I had scratches on my face, bruises on arm/torso and bone bruise in toe. They had nothing. Admin sent me out on investigation. They faced no consequence.

Less than a week. So very excited. Tolkien via animation (Rankin-Bass Hobbit) was my first exposure to the works of the Professor.

I like to think of myself as a Samwise — loyal, caring, courageous when needed. But I know in my heart that I’m a Denethor II, because, boy, do I like to house some cherry tomatoes in the worst way possible.
