the people you see on twitter, elon musk included, want you to be in constant fear

in reality the woman who rings you up at the store probably doesn't care at all. she is busy thinking about the end of her shift.

My cat is yelling at me, because she normally gets her subcutaneous fluids and tuna earlier and I just got home, but sorry, girl, I’m waiting for my hands to defrost first.

I got myself a manicure as a little "augh cold" survival present. I so have a consistent color scheme.

For fuck’s sake, someone from building management turned off the heat in the vacant office downstairs from me again, making it much harder to actually keep my apartment warm. My laser thermometer says my floors are between 50f/10c and 55f/~13c, and this weekend is going to be insanely cold. Sigh.

Bonding with your voice therapist over a shared adoration for Warren Beatty's Reds: win.

My voice therapist is on the block of Broadway between Maiden Lane and Liberty Street and I feel like there should be metaphor there.

Thanks to a fire in the 60th St Tunnel and insane crowding on the subway lines I’d take home, I got off halfway and walked from there. In the process, I learned that, at least so far, HRT has made only minimal changes to me sweating like mad when I’m walking a decent distance with purpose.

Taking a break waiting for some automation to finish at work and diving back into @jasonburke2.bsky.social's stellar The Revolutionists. This particular era and dynamic of leftist violence is basically what I'd get a PhD on if I was academically capable.

Remind me to never cheat on Lily Allen. I don't want to get eviscerated for the length of an entire album.

I don't like going to concerts that aren't Pulp, but I'm seriously considering getting tickets to see Lily Allen in April.

I meant to go to bed but fell into The Pitt.

I am having difficulty finding someone to see all 3+ hours of Warren Beatty's Reds at Lincoln Center with me on Valentines for some reason.

new yorkers survive in the city long-term by traveling in a kind of invisible force field bubble that maintains another body's amount of space between you & everyone else whenever possible. the snowbanks are collapsing this & everybody is riding a knife's edge of irritation that is starting to give

Strange Days is just as flawed as I remember it - even in 1995, 17 year old Beth was annoyed at the cop-out ending. But it’s got style in a kinda proto-Matrix vibe, and the whole plot line around cops executing someone on camera sure had some resonance in the theater.

This is Netflix's NYC theater that I'm at and they're showing a preview for a Laura Poitras inspired film series, and Glenn fucking Greenwald showed up on the screen. I don't think anyone else joined in, but I booed a little. Fuck that jackass.

I'm about to see Strange Days at the Paris in NYC and I'm legitimately not sure if I've seen it since i saw it on release 30ish years ago.
