BBC to Steven Fine (CEO Peel Hunt) “Does what Chris Mason said about the timing of Rachel Reeves statements matter?” Answer “I don’t think so, the markets like it, they like the headroom that gives them confidence for the future” That’s why the Tory press is so angry!

BBC and right wing press have spent 18 months talking down the UK economy whilst Rachel Reeves has tried to garner positivity. The irony of @bbcnewsnight.bsky.social accusing Reeves of being overly pessimistic is off the scale. Is there no internal checking?

You listen to sky news and you'd think that Rachel Reeves was a highwayman! The need of right wing media and newspapers to denigrate absolutely everything this Govt does is almost an addiction. I actually think the budget was one of the best in many years! The comms was a mess but the budget was good

She mocks Rachel Reeves for talking about the misogyny she's experienced as the first female chancellor, but the personal attacks she's dishing out feel very gendered indeed!

There is a direct line between Donald Trump trying to destroy the BBC and him excusing the brutal murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Trump hates the independent free press – whether in the US, Saudi Arabia or the UK. We will always defend it.
Trump suggests Khashoggi had it coming: "You're mentioning someone that was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about. Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen. But he knew nothing about it. You don't have to embarrass our guest."

I remember when I called Nigel Farage an anti-semite whilst on the BBC and Ben Habib said he'd sue me. Needless to say, I am still waiting for his lawyer's letter.

Under a totalitarian fascist regime, the idea historically has been that anything you do to even mildly inconvenience agents of the totaliatarian fascist regime is automatically illegal and warrants extended custody and even imprisonment, whether or not it violates any statute

(PS5) So when I say "good thing the BBC didn't talk to any experts" I’m in part indicting myself for not having the personal resources or bandwidth I wish I had. The BBC is the best media outlet I’ve ever worked with, and it hurt me deeply not to continue aiding them. I just had nothing in the tank.

(PS4) I hold myself partially responsible for this and am ashamed to say that. Over the past 2 years the BBC has repeatedly sought to work with me and interview me as it had regularly done in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020—but I was suffering from exhaustion and had to stop doing interviews and debriefs.
