When I was a young and naive web designer in the late 90s I assumed we would get better at building inclusive and easy-to-use websites.
I would have screamed at many of the implementations I see today.
I had not anticipated how lucrative it appears to be to scale garbage and ignore quality.

I think it’s bewildering that so much of accessibility is presented as being about mastering a zillion technicalities and rules, losing focus on the objective which is to deliver better experiences for disabled people and people with disabilities - preferably by involving us in the work
