I’m kind of new to the Democrats, but I thought we were FOR respecting the legal process, and also that we were AGAINST political corruption. And that it was especially important to hold to these principles at this time.

But I guess there’s some insider memo I didn’t get that would set me straight?

@zohrankmamdani.bsky.social got Trump so charmed that Trump posted two photos of the two of them with Franklin Roosevelt’s portrait behind them AND one of just Mamdani and FDR’s portrait.

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.

We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.

We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.

Sen Gary Peters is in his own way the biggest embarrassment of the lot. He’s been a leader of Team Cave and he’s retiring. So there’s no politics or risk aversion. He wants to cave as a matter of genuine principle.

Hey @kaine.senate.gov hold the f’ing line. A majority of us Virginians don’t want you to fold. We are living what this careless, thoughtless, lawless GOP have done to our commonwealth and neighboring DC and states. Do better.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

And he'll never (lawfully) be on the ballot again.

Agree. And as a VA Dem, this was the most uneventful election. Rs put up weak candidates at a time when furloughs and a shutdown have destabilized our local economy. I mean for god’s sake, Sear’s slogan was “let’s keep a good thing going.” So tone deaf. VA folks know better.
Columnists built entire theories about cultural liberalism's collapse around Youngkin's inroads in Loudoun, even though his success wasn't all that surprising for a party that had just lost the WH. Journalists credulously lapped up Rufo's ludicrous spin and regurgitated it widely with great joy.
I'm so old I remember when the Loudoun County results four years ago were treated as an event with world-historical significance

In VA, no surprise. And as a VA Dem, I hope Democrats do not take this as a model of how we win in other states. Let me be clear, the GOP candidates were weak and add how horrible the furloughs and shutdown have been for working families in the state, the choice was easy.
