Dynasty-type teams are always hated, probably more in baseball where things are regional. I get that, but arguing the Dodgers aren't cause Jeff Passan made two tweets that were notable because it's not a popular take and that he's getting a ton of pushback for is weird, I guess.

We all have blindspots as fans, but biggest Dodger stories in the past year were "Is Shohei Ohtani an evil criminal mastermind?", "Are the Dodgers destroying baseball with deferrals?", and "Can anybody stop the new Evil Empire?" as soon as they went up 2-0 in the World Series.

Me when the Dodgers are trying to build a superteam dynasty: HAHAHA YES YESSS!

Me when division opponents are motivated to spend in order to keep up: This sucks, what the fuck.
Can literally any other division sign players?

Kinda crazy how the dodgers are basically running back the same team next year except Blake Snell replaces Walker Buehler and Michael Conforto replaces Kevin Kiermaier.

They prob need to re-sign Kiké and maybe a reliever and they’re done.
Just confirmed that the fourth year option for $15 million is a club option, not a player or mutual option.
The Dodgers finally signed Teoscar.

He wanted 3/$66M.

Per Passan: he got 3/$66M with a $23M signing bonus and $23M in deferred money.

Fourth year *option for $15M.

Obviously things will look different in rotation as the arms that missed all year with injury (Ohtani, May, Gonsolin, Sheehan) will return to place next year’s injury crop (Stone, Graterol, whenever Glasnow breaks, etc).

I do not think Roki Sasaki will be a Dodger
You are forgetting the possibility of not the likelihood of Sasaki...

About time. Dodgers desperately needed an OF bat, and this was the most obvious fit.
@JeffPassan tweeted
Outfielder Teoscar Hernández and the Los Angeles Dodgers are in agreement on a three-year, $66 million contract, sources tell ESPN. The deal includes a fourth-year option for $15 million, a little more than $23 million in deferred money and a $23 million signing bonus.

How does an MLB team recruit Roki Sasaki when money isn't a factor?

Also for those who say dodgers etc. are bad for baseball. Well they just paid $100 M in luxury tax. Half that money goes toward MLB player retirement fund while the other half goes to the poor teams to give them money to spend on players, which the poor teams’ owners usually just pocket.
For people wondering why the Dodgers are dragging their feet signing Teoscar Hernández.. They’re in the luxury tax bracket where they pay 110% tax on any signing from here on out. The Red Sox just signed Walker Buehler for 1-yr $21M. That same contract would have been 1-yr, $44.2M for the Dodgers.
Would be about $44.2 million

Every Dodgers addition now will be taxed at 110% for 2025 at the very least (& likely at least 2026 too given the various commitments). They are at ~$330m already in CBT payroll for 2025

Ohtani, Betts, Freeman, Glasnow, Smith, Snell, Edman are $207.4m/year thru 2027

(which is why I’m guessing they’d want the eventual Teoscar deal to count something like $20m/year in CBT payroll accounting for deferrals rather than the $22-24m/year in total payout)

Somebody was going to make a smart investment in Michael Conforto and I'm not surprised to see it's the Dodgers. Amazing but true stat: Conforto's 17 road homers last season were the most among NL outfielders. Batted ball data was solid. Getting out of SF should help him a ton.

I don’t get all the fan worries about Juan Soto being a negative clubhouse presence somehow, or a bad teammate. The only incident I remember is when he criticized Padres players for a lack of effort, and since one of the clubhouse leaders is Johnny Hustle himself, Soto just might have had a point.

Why are there so many Dodger fans who are convinced Soto is a clubhouse disaster? Their reasoning almost entirely seems to revolve around the shuffle thing, lol.
