I’ve been told some academic centers are telling their faculty not to speak up. In case anyone was wondering, injustice has never been overcome through silence. You can choose to speak up, or you can be complicit in the oppression.

Everyone has a choice. May we all choose wisely.

The big takeaway here is that Reuters won this case against the AI company on grounds they violated fair use—the judge found the AI company was guilty because, in using copyrighted works to generate its output, it “meant to compete... by developing a market substitute.”

Huge.

Donald Trump is trying to block trillions of dollars in federal funds to Meals on Wheels, Medicaid, and other critical programs that keep us safe and healthy. If allowed to go into effect, this would wreak havoc across the country.

Tell Congress: Trump cannot be allowed to defund our communities.
Tell Congress: Don't defund our communities
President Trump’s decision to block trillions in federal funding to critical services already approved by Congress is a reckless, cruel, unprecedented power grab that will impact every one of us.

- US farmers provided 41% of food delivered by USAID
- $340M of purchases/shipments are now paused. Over 680,000 tonnes.
- Food stranded in Houston
- Aid stopped in transit.

The world’s poor starving, food rotting & US farmers screwed.

Check this thread. This hearing is about getting it plain and clear to the American people that even former trump officials think that what's happening with the politicization and weaponization of science and technology is an absolutely terrible idea on every level.
The House Science Committee is now adopting its rules, authorization, and oversight plan, and introducing their new staffers. Immediately following, there will be a hearing on the future of U.S. science with the president of AAAS and two former Trump officials in academia and Trump operative.
