I will conclude this portion of the thread with a key point Benjamin Bratton makes about #AI non-grief: "There are ‘non-grief’ ways of thinking through a philosophy of artificialized intelligence that are neither optimistic nor pessimistic, utopian nor dystopian."

“Benjamin H Bratton, an AI expert at the University of California, San Diego, welcomed the initiative as a move towards the “diffusion” of the technology.

“It is less important ‘whose’ AI people have access to than they have universal access at all,” Bratton told Al Jazeera.”

Is European AI A Lost Cause? Not Necessarily.
If Europe wants to build a new AI Stack it should stop listening to critics who claim to lead the way but only offer resistance.

Apparently it’s very hard for Benjamin Bratton to understand that people resist tech because they *do not want the tech.* People do not embrace the tech he wants just because he once used 3,000 pages to vaguely explain what infrastructure is.

1/2 Elon Musk and Benjamin Bratton represent two sides of the same hollow game: using abstract philosophy and spectacle to legitimize techno-capitalist fantasies. Musk wraps brute ambition in shallow ideas; Bratton wraps shallow ideas in grand systems.

Benjamin Bratton doesn’t critique tech—he aestheticizes it. His abstract systems dress power in theory, making planetary computation look inevitable, even beautiful. It feels like philosophy, but acts like branding.

It is the structure of collective organization…

Language is the architecture within which we refer to systems.
