I’m not sure if it’s some sort of deep sense memory from when I was a baby living in San Francisco apts or just an autistic thing, but I find the weird little hisses and clicks that my radiator makes deeply unsettling. Like not even individual sounds, but in aggregate, the gestalt soundscape of it.

I was going to say “Violence on my timeline” but on second thought this is a pretty devastating and unwelcome thing to seriously consider about Andor and its politics.
Say what you will about Tony Gilroy, I believe he would at least respect HIMSELF enough to avoid Guy Fawkes masks, on-brand or -off

M. Jon Harrison was right and more people should know it!
I genuinely believe nerdism's insistence that story is a thing to be quantified, compartmentalized into tropes and trivia, to be literalized, has been utterly poisonous.

I’m not yet cynical enough to believe that it’s actually a kind of counterintuitive sponcon, but the chatbot companies really would be aware that getting people to accept huge fuckups and continue using the product, as literally a kind of friend you pay for, is their present business model.

This is to say that relying on chatGPT for things that are (ostensibly) extremely important in your life, and continuing to use it after it fails, is now considered so Relatable that Kim Kardashian will mention it in order to seem like a person with day to day human experiences like you or me

I suspect she’s half-joking, but while people were like “YELLOWSTONE’s success suggests a vast population of unfathomable minds”, I do think that somehow, the success of ALL’S FAIR should give us a sense of how many people would believe a chatbot could be Cyrano de Bergerac.

America can endure no end of suffering. What’s critical is that the people’s chambers reach agreement. When the consent of the people, as demonstrated by the continued function of House and Senate, fails to be achieved, America is lost. And then there is nothing except suffering. Don’t you see

And yet here’s Chuck now, refusing responsibility for the second unconditional surrender he personally orchestrated. Why? I ask myself. It’s as though March’s concession — to christen ICE into what it is and will soon become — was not regrettable. This is his purpose. This is the Dems’ purpose.

After the first time Schumer said uncle this year, he indicated that he saw his role as, essentially, a sin eater: Someone to “take the bullet” and stand against the backlash for “what had to be done”. But since then he has pretty consistently voted against Klobuchar, Fetterman et al’s compromises…

Jeffries dripping denatured, confidence-shaped noise from his mouth, well after faking it could have made it. Schumer taking a public stance against the strategy he privately championed. The profound contempt for your people in these acts! The profound pride in insisting you continue on!

The literal purpose of leadership is to own choices, to associate yourself with what will or will not stand by standing or laying down. This is the world that Schumer and Jeffries accept, and by staying in position to see it through they are demonstrating that we should follow suit.
When you are in an impossible situation, when your most deeply held principles and responsibilities clash with the remit of your adopted chair, the chair is what you abdicate. If you can’t stop something from happening, taking your name off the official list of its authors is the least you can do

Using the language of struggle when you have ratted out the people under you — not just trading away your own principles but submitting ppl under your responsibility to suffering, brutality, and death — is beyond perverse. A principled person would have quit. There’s no getting around it.

I want everyone to consider this, honestly. Honestly consider that our party leadership does not simply lack strategic vision in ways that you have to do cursory analysis to produce. Jeffries answers direct questions like a 7-year old who only remembers the first slide of his presentation.
They fucking made the Kaiser guy from Kafka Airport into the House Minority Leader. They hand picked his ass. He came with the highest recommendations youtu.be/gEyFH-a-XoQ?...

CNN: Was the shutdown worth it?
HAKEEM JEFFRIES: We have waged a battle on behalf of the American people.
CNN: But you didn't get what you want.

saying that this simply bans CBD GUMMIES (a not very popular product right now) is absolutely burying the lede. THIS OUTLAWS ALL THCA, DELTA9, DELTA 8 PRODUCTS
More than 15 Senate Democrats join GOP to advance nationwide ban on hemp products, including CBD gummies,
