Economics is the engine of history. From Ancient Greece to modern times, economics is what allows events we all know about to occur. Perception of the economy drives politics as it did centuries ago in pre modern times. It is what moves the needle both positively and negatively throughout history.

I think of the scene in too big to fail movie when Ben Bernanke tells the cabinet what happened when credit stopped and led to the Great Depression.
Interesting, this piece doesn’t mention how many consumers might lose access to credit entirely.

Despite how fucking insane the past week or so has been, Senate Democrats got a war powers resolution through from the minority & House Democrats got a 7th discharge petition through & are about to pass extending the ACA subsidies with a sizable chunk of Republicans despite being in the minority.

It appears that the new dietary guidelines stopped short of strengthening the recommendation to reduce alcohol consumption and may have weakened it — a missed public health opportunity that should be revisited as these guidelines are refined and updated.

This is the correct take
I don't care about getting the top teams in the playoff because the playoff isn't the most important thing in college football.

I like that everyone starts the regular season with a big goal that is reachable. The playoff is big enough now that the best team comes out of it.
