My childhood, in academic Cambridge in the 1970s, was full of interesting friends of my parents who were refugees from all over the world, escaping various Communist or Fascist countries or political oppression in some other way. That they were welcome here, indeed *encouraged* to settle, was great.

I've been getting pushback from Labour loyalists for my last posts.
I'll just say this. I'm physically disabled. I depend on my husband, a foreign national with ILR, for support with mobility & daily living. Since Starmer got in the fear & anxiety I experienced under the Tories has only got worse.
