In the northern Illinois village of Roscoe, Thomas F. Agran was commissioned in 2022 to create a mural honoring the area. He painted a detailed, evocative image of the Pecatonica River watershed.
Now, just three years in, village trustees have voted paint it over because some of them don't like it.

Much of my family left Turkey after my great-grandfather was murdered in the Armenian Genocide. Turkey, Israel, and many other countries still deny this genocide occurred. It’s a denial that enables genocides like that in Gaza to take place today.
