also, the insane racism of this aside, "the black and white culture of louisiana is completely different" is something you can only believe if you've never stepped foot in louisiana (this applies to much of the south)
Rod Dreher couldn't even get through his essay about grappling with the implications of his father's racist past without casually defending anti-miscegenation laws in passing.

It was wonderful seeing hundreds turn out for the No Kings rally in St Tammany Parish. Hope it took a few weeks off of David Duke's miserable life

"New Orleans has Dr. John" - well... yes, but ... we didn't name it Dr. John International Airport, now did we?
I love how certain cities hold their most iconic musicians as patron saints and part of the city's identity. Minneapolis has Prince. We in Austin Have Willy. New Orleans has Dr. John.

Genuinely curious: Who is your city's musical patron saint?

It's really incredible that Trump is who he is. Any other rich guy from his cohort enjoys imported wine, imported food, imported cars. But not this teetotaler who eats like a toddler and has never driven a day in his life. He doesn't have any interest in imported goods so why should anyone else.

I saw only one good April Fool's post today and on LinkedIn of all places where someone posted about how excited they were to start their new role at Tesla.

And then I saw the people who work at Tesla welcoming them to the team.

I saw 0 good April Fool's posts today.

In all seriousness, this letter betrays a truth about anti-library activists: they fear education; they fear children who learn empathy and love for their fellow human beings. Because education & love defeat racism, & homophobia, & hate. This is the beauty of #libraries, Greg. Not their weakness.

Right now I'm just really focusing on trying to have a good Mardi Gras this year. Especially considering it's the last good thing that will happen

In a dream last night I met and chatted with a family from Charlotte, NC. When I woke up and the dream started fading from my brain like an etch-a-sketch I could actually feel the concept of "Charlotte, NC" fading out with it and had to look at a map to remind myself of its name and existence

Bargaining with the cat, begging her to please stop puking and pooping on the same hallway rug, "what if I just buy you a new smaller rug, would you only puke on that? would that work for you?"

thinking about how my masters program kept telling me my proposed thesis on genocide denial as a means for crafting state legitimacy was not topical enough in 2015. hmm.

Just dropped "that's loser behavior" in a meeting with my manager while describing another team's behavior so you could say the burnout levels are toasty for sure.

Need to make a cool pharmacist friend so I can just text "is concerta back yet?" once a month instead of playing the little game of going to the Dr, getting an Rx, giving the Rx to the pharmacy, and waiting for them to call me a week later that they can't fill my Rx but I should try again next month

New and interesting reports from the eternal job hunt: today I got an email telling me they realized they don't want to hire anyone for the role and they're closing the position entirely. At least I can't take it personally.

Someone here drives a car with an upgraded bass system that manages to hit the exact resonant frequency of my living room and they have no clue how high they are on my enemy list

Can't let myself think too long about how deeply my professional life has been set back by casual, "under-the-radar" sexism or I'll break. And there's no time for breaking when I'm doing my boss's job for him! Haha we gotta laugh don't we folks
