Private mercenaries costumed to look like legitimate law enforcement. Not surprised it’s that Blackwater guy. Unbelievable
That’s not just a security guard, it’s a member of the Triple Canopy private paramilitary organization that merged with Erik Price’s notorious Blackwater group.
We were just denied entrance into the EPA after asking to meet with a DOGE representative. More to come.

Worth your time - what might future AI Firms look like? An interesting take on the scale implications of AGI.

What fully automated firms will look like
Everyone is sleeping on the *collective* advantages AIs will have, which have nothing to do with raw IQ - they can be copied, distilled, merged, scaled, and evolved in ways humans simply can't.

So much this. No matter the countless times in history where the GOP doesn’t ever give an inch, the Dems once again display utter spinelessness in the name of collegiality. When will they learn that they are being taken for fools?
The Senate confirmed Marco Rubio as Secretary of State by a vote of 99-0.

Democrats offer an endless supply of goodwill to Republicans that will never be reciprocated.

Calling out for anyone who can figure out the receipts on how the trend of moving from TikTok to RedNote and Lemon8 started - was this a truly organic “fuck you for banning TikTok” trend, or was it seeded by Chinese state-controlled accounts and/or algorithmically amplified on TikTok?

what it literally comes down to is PEOPLE ADOPT OPINIONS THEY THINK ALL THEIR FRIENDS SHARE and social media creates a very strong sense of what the popular consensus on any given topic is (e.g., “Biden bad”) even though it’s godawful at providing people with any kind of underlying factual support
One of the reasons I think Will Stancil is right about 2024 and the negativity bias of social media is that all my friends who don’t like Biden can’t tell me why. They usually say something that is untrue or they have a vague sense that he is bad (but can’t explain why). It defies all reason.
Yeah, the downsides of believing this are that it’s depressing, it’s scary, it’s uncertain, it doesn’t lend itself to an obvious course of action or reaffirm our positive feelings about humanity. The upside is that it’s true

If you’re fond of calling others “NPCs,” you might want to take a hard look in the mirror and consider why it is that you need to feel superior.

All of the real scorecards are internal, but you’re stuck comparing yourself to others and judging that you’re better. Are you playing the right game?
