The best dresses have pockets. I am often tempted to add pockets to dresses but never do, maybe I should start doing it
So much joy in a dress with pockets!
Book 87 for 2025: The Magic of Pockets: A Feminist's Guide to Adding Pockets to Clothing That Really Should Have Pockets to Begin With by Jess Driscoll. This is a delightful little book with some fashion history & some down to earth techniques on making pockets. 1/2

The same is also true of every dollar Rowling makes from the Cormoran Strike crime novels she writes under the transparent pen name Robert Galbraith.

#BookSky #pukapuka
Every dollar JK Rowling makes from Harry Potter is going into bankrolling an extortion racket issuing legal threats to organizations across the UK to purge themselves of trans people or face ruinous lawfare.
i hope every single person who still buys harry potter merch or engages with that franchise is happy that they're literally making girl guides cry

girl guides uk have been forced very much against their will to exclude trans girls. full statement is here: www.girlguiding.org.uk/information-...

We need a wealth tax, not just to be able to fund infrastructure and public services, but also because very rich people are a threat to democracy. And I don't just mean billionaires, who should not exist at all.

Dear people flushing wet-wipes,

Don't.

We don't care what the false advertising claims say on the packet.

Just DON'T.
They are not flushable.

Put them in the bin.

And stop buying the ones with plastic in them. Read the labels!!!

Thank you for your urgent attention to this matter.

Disabled people were one of the first groups targeted by the Nazis.

They coined the term “useless eaters”.

They tested the gas chambers on us.

They knew most people wouldn’t fight to save our lives.

That’s why the President using the R slur is so dangerous.

We’re not expendable

The complaints about wasteful spending by councils is always by wealthy, selfish people who do not want to see money spent on services they don't use or pipes they don't see
Wealthy folk are also the ones who are insulated from the impacts of local service cuts.

Libraries matter less if you can buy your own books. Public swimming pools (in a warming world) matter less when you’ve got your own.
Rate cuts are service cuts but i do think that the wealthy people who are pushing them believe in a magical world where only the services they hate will be cut, while the services they enjoy (or don't even notice are services) will be left completely intact without noticeable negative consequences

And if libraries are more your thing, and e-books. Remember you can request a copy at your library, and if you jump on library platforms like Libby and BorrowBox, you can put in a request so your library know there is demand to buy it in.
(On Libby you might need a deep search)
Pre-orders for signed paperback copies of HedgeWitch and Concert & Consequence in paperback go live today too. These will be limited to NZ delivery to begin with. (Exception for overseas friends and whanau who can contact me directly)

Watching sevens, Stacey Waaka being said as Stacey Whacka is so cringey. I get it’s a British commentator but surely they could make a small effort to say names correctly.

A reminder that we have many different types of people playing the game. Some love the sleuth, some love the hunt for the perfect gift, some need the validation of knowing they're on the right track.
This is one reason I do the questions to help people get to know you -
