Shockingly, this bill would have failed were it not for the 3 Democrat defections.
Just now, a national trans healthcare felony ban for youth has passed the US House, with 10 year prison terms.

3 Dems crossed party lines to vote to jail providers.

4 GOP crossed party lines to vote against.

It is not expected to pass the Senate, where Dems hold filibuster power.

Story to come.

Good news is: my glasses are in and I'll finally be able to look at things for more than 5 minutes without getting a migraine!

Bad news is: they texted me about it 3 minutes before closing time!

Oh well, I'll pick them up tomorrow.

Eye exam went well! I'm a little nearsighted because of astigmatism. The prescription I'm getting isn't strong but it should do a lot to reduce my chronic migraines. Thanks to my partner's help, we were able to find really cute frames! Can't wait to pick them up.

This Trans Day of Remembrance, my heart hurts thinking of all the people we couldn't carry through to the other side of this moment in history.

Amidst all the fighting we've done for our community, amidst the unshakeable belief that we will win in the end, grief still takes hold.

Feeling guilty that we had to miss the local Trans Day of Remembrance vigil, but at least I can hold my own at home using one of the bleeding candles from mine and @embershadows.bsky.social 's wedding.

In honor of those who left us too soon,

And may no more join them.

1. Nearly every transgender person walks this earth knowing people like us who are no longer with us.

In writing about transgender people every day, I hold in my heart the people who are now our ancestors, and I try to bring their light forward.

These are the people I'm remembering today.
The People I Remember On This Trans Day Of Remembrance
Elisa Shupe, Lia Smith, Miss Major Griffin-Gracy, and so many more names are worth remembering today.

It's being reported that New Zealand has banned puberty blockers for transgender youth. I removed New Zealand from my recommendations to families fleeing a while back after the far right saw a surge in power in the country.

Sad day for NZ trans youth.

Now I'm all paranoid because the fascists are in town and there's a helicopter circling our area, and they don't usually do that around where we live.

Too bad you caved to the real danger instead of fighting it.
But there are real dangers out there that must be fought; and energy spent fighting each other is energy lost to that bigger fight.
