now that knifes out 3 is out proper i am reiterating my belief that there should be like 50 benoit blanc movies. they should have a columbo-esque legacy of running on sunday afternoons when their millennial audience all starts hitting 60.

To heal our divided nation I propose splitting Game of the Year awards into two categories:

Random thoughts on AI music: the CEO of Suno likes to pitch the app as a way to make music without needing to learn software, practice/learn instruments, record takes, etc.
I've come to realize all these things are what make music so meaningful to me, which is why I've never touched the thing.

Avatar is weird to me because James Cameron is an incredible director and spent the 80s/90s doing incredible things while working under technical limitations. Now, the potential of SFX is nearly limitless, and he's cranking out some of the lamest movies I've ever witnessed.

OpenAI’s strategy is very clear, it’s trying to get people - especially young people - so reliant on its products intellectually & emotionally (& now sexually!) that going without them becomes unthinkable. And they need signs of that strategy working to keep the funding flowing in

People going "America was always fascist" or "it's been like this since the 1980s" or making related claims don't seem to realize it, but they're telling everyone that nothing different is happening, nothing worse than usual, so if you weren't up in arms about eg 2013, you shouldn't be now either.
