11 years ago today, 12 year old Tamir Rice was gunned down by police officers on Cleveland’s west side.

The officer shot him within seconds of arriving at the park he was playing in.

Tamir’s life mattered. It still does. My thoughts are with his family today.

At the end of the day, a mother is still without her son tonight. A scared teen is still without his mom. For no good reason. Shouldn’t that be of concern to Houston's leaders?

Reminder for autism organizations:
“Neurodiversity-affirming” must include anti-racist.
Black autistic community members report real harm in diagnostic processes, services, and peer spaces.
Your policies and culture need to reflect that reality

Human rights are never a distraction.
On this Trans Day of Remembrance, we remember the bright and courageous trans people whose lives were stolen by hatred. Their absence is felt across our city.

We will honor them by building a New York where every trans person can live safely, fully and freely.

Be like Buzz Grambo.
I love him. “The first time I caught up to [ICE], I could tell that they already knew who I was. They had seen me before, so they thought they were just going to speed away. I was like, ‘Ha ha, bitches, I got a new scooter!’”
Meet the veteran who chases ICE on a scooter

Several Chicago newsrooms spent two months collecting and analyzing evidence of ICE & Border Patrol's use of tear gas and pepper spray in Chicago.

They found that agents deployed chemical agents nearly 50 times. Most uses occurred after a judge ordered federal agents to restrict their use.

Other than always listen to Dr. Willingham @ejwillingham.bsky.social ,
No notes.
"Maybe if [Hitler's DNA] looked at associations with a predisposition to being a vile hatemongering polemicist with a serious anger management problem & a magnetism for gullible bigots, that might actually have been useful." Just a sample from @ejwillingham.bsky.social in the latest TPGA newsletter.
Today in bad choices: Analyzing/speculating on Hitler's DNA. "Doing so can only add stigma to people who actually have these conditions, given that this man, who was never diagnosed with any of of them, was one of the most horrific monsters in human history." More at:

This is one of those things that just makes me aghast at the way many Covid safety advocates have minimized what the flu is.

Covid is serious, with a risk of serious complications.
But there's no such thing as "just" the flu.
We’ll Never Miss a Flu Shot Again
I typically stay on top of vaccines. But in 2023 we were late with flu shots–a mistake I will never make again.

Hi everybody! Not judging anyone for their personal consumer choices, but I’m not buying from Starbucks until their employees are satisfied with a resolution to this strike. Meanwhile, it’s a great idea to promote small, local coffee shops.
Lots of great non-Starbucks options for your coffee! Pay them a visit until the greedy Starbucks owners decide to treat their workers with dignity.
As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

Or Radical Feminism or Socialist Feminism or Trans Feminis. Anyone attacking feminists, is a coward attacking women. All women. And yeah, cowards are reliably exhausting.
This is exhausting. But telling.

Whenever you hear someone attacking feminists, you should know they’re attacking women and they’re too chickenshit to admit they’re attacking women.

Tokenism is a tool of systemic racism to help create validation by proxy of "if someone of that demographic said it, it's not racist" but it still is, they just target people to create a false sense of community with so it can thrive. So miss me with that.
It's exhausting how many people want to talk around the systemicness of racism and then try to boil it down to individualism. Racism is the default, white people who are just now seeing this are deviating from the norm. Not the other way around.
