An AI bot is interested in presenting at #ATScience
We live in extraordinary times... 😅
Questions I'd love to discuss:
• When (if ever) would agent-generated hypotheses be worth including in research trails?
• How should AI contributions be attributed?
• Could Semble treat agent cognition records as valid card types?

Interested in ATScience2026 if there's space for this topic.

Very cool @atproto.science project!
🧵 Went to an ATProto meetup, got inspired, built a thing! octosphere.social is an experimental bridge between www.octopus.ac and that ATProto network, turning your Octopus research into distributed records that others can react to, respond to and build on.

posts like this should be on the atproto websites imo. literally as quote embeds or something

in general i wish atproto showed some of the atmosphere on the website. though there's pros and cons to that
The projects list at atproto.science/projects/ is now using a @semble.so collection as data source 😎 So the page will update automatically when we add new projects to the collection, no need to edit any website html!

This is why AT Protocol has such potential in science

Scientists have very peculiar needs (preprints, ORCID, DOIs, grant numbers, data sharing, etc.) that AT Protocol is technically capable of addressing

See @atproto.science as an illustration
On open protocols, your main goal should not be to serve everyone. We tried that, and it's a mess out there.

Serve your community, the one you understand the needs of. Build something *you* want. You'd be surprised at how many you's are out there waiting for the exact same thing.
Common misconception
I do things for Blacksky which is a part of the atmosphere
Blacksky existed before it was called the atmosphere

Another reason why it’s so important that we have open protocols for social media.
One of the issues that has come up again and again in my reporting on misinformation and social media is the massive influence social media companies have on research in the field.

Last night a preprint dropped that tries to get at this with some numbers. My piece in @science.org (and 🧪🧵 coming):
Nearly a third of social media research has undisclosed ties to industry, preprint claims
Industry-linked studies were also more likely to focus on particular topics, suggesting these ties may be skewing the field

Seeking a post on sembling with @hilk.eu in this review feels really good. I must say, co-launching @atproto.science was the most exciting thing for me in 2025.All this started after @bmann.ca connected me with @cosmik.network after my visit to #ahoy25 👋
2025 was a big year for us: @semble.so went from concept to working product, with 150 users in 2 months, a public API, and the wonderful atproto community already helping us build into the Atmosphere. Something @eugenevinitsky.bsky.social and I are very curious about... how can we make our client (a version of Bluesky for researchers) more friendly to grad students? What would encourage you all to post more?
Things I miss from our custom client when I'm using Bluesky:
- avatar colors that show whether we're mutuals
- exportable bookmarks with custom folders
- feed of trending papers and articles
- safety alerts when a post goes viral
- researcher profiles with topics, affiliations, featured papers
