On this day in 1804, Joseph Howe was born in Halifax. He was instrumental in Nova Scotia becoming the first British colony to win responsible government. He was premier of the colony from 1860 to 1863, and served as Lt. Governor of Nova Scotia briefly before his death in 1873.

TBH I already accidentally tried this on a genealogy website and it made a horrifying video of "my dad" that absolutely did not have his voice and I turned it off before it could forever sully his memory for me.

I mean he already did enough on his own to sully his memory and he didn't need help.
I think “speak to your fake dead relative” might be the most evil application of “AI” i’ve seen so far

Forewarned is forearmed.
We could see two referendum battles in the near future: One in Québec and one in Alberta. Is Ottawa ready to handle that fight?

Who would be Captain Canada if it came to that? James Moore & @gmbutts.bsky.social are back to discuss.

This is excellent #HfxArchives to share on Dec 6th. Can put any reader into the eyes of the disaster.

As a Canadian, for many years I viewed the political US as extremist. Was aware of religious fundamental impact on women but this article really depressing and scary for American women.

Thank you Stephen Kimber for a rational perspective. It is disturbing for all to have to place groups with such hostility and fear of getting criticized.

Butter tarts and Nanaimo bars are the epitome of a good Canada dessert.😋
Butter tarts are a wonderful treat during the Christmas season.
Personally, I think they are the greatest Canadian treat (even with raisins).
These delectable treats have been name dropped in Canadian songs, TV and movies.
But what is their history?
This is the story.
