"they needed to hire multiple studios to do what the AI promised to do but was completely unable to perform, and are keeping it hidden from the public" is the real story here

like what are we doing at this point
So apparently, it may turn out that The Wizard of Oz at the Las Vegas Sphere wasn’t entirely made in AI and Google threw the VFX crew under the bus by claiming it was all done by artificial intelligence.

If true, then fucking yikes.

As named constructors are not possible in #Java, some non-public constructors in OpenJDK contain bogus parameter, just to differentiate them from other constructors.

New data oriented file format just dropped.

FastLanes, "like Parquet, but with 40% better compression and 40× faster decoding". 👀

Seems it can exploit correlations between columns and have fully SIMD friendly encodings to help with vectorization.

German children books are teaching the way local economies work. Easter bunnies cry about skilled worker shortage, enlist some farm animals to "help" with their work. Hired animals proceed to do it... arguably poorly. But the Easter bunnies are happy and rest instead. 10/10.

🌀 Tried Kotlin Notebook’s `ANIMATE {}` today and got totally sucked in.

First plan: shiny data plots.
Actual result: a roaming kaomoji ( ͡~ ‿ ͡~)

Bottom line: with a bit of code, #kotlin notebooks move more than just data.

I could really use your help looking for Senior++ Technical Writer roles or intermediate++ Developer Relations roles. I'm looking to stay in Germany.

I'm also considering building up a freelance pipeline but realistically full time work makes my visa situation way easier.

Please RT for reach 🙇‍♀️
