Prettiness is not the first word one would associate with the music of the Happy Mondays but this always takes me aback with how lovely and pretty it is

Funny thing about writing songs/words; the fraught relationship between them. I tried to write a song a while ago & got nowhere at all. Before I gave up on it I pressed record & made up some lyrics on the spot soundcloud.com/assistantbri...
It suddenly gave it shape but now I'm stuck with the lyrics

The bit at the end of the song when the whole (small) crowd joins in on "it's not like Elvis" line of The Wave Picture's loveliest song, Now You Are Pregnant, always makes the hairs stick up on the back of my neck. As does David's playing on the outro.

I am attempting to record a draft episode of a potential radio show (just for fun at the mo) and my goodness it's hard actually finishing sentences. Anyone else noticed that?

I’ve heard a couple of tracks in an earlier state and they are absolutely brilliant - this will be one to snap up when it’s out!!
Spent the day in the studio mixing the four tracks that will become our next 12”.

Morning Saturday morning and a huge thank you to everyone who span, downloaded, supported and talked about, not only yesterday's new CBQ release "Like a Sunday" but, also, many items from the back catalogue. CBQ continues into the future... Have a top Saturday everybody!

Bob Dylan at the Brighton Centre was truly lovely. It’s hard to create at atmosphere in a crappy aircraft hanger venue, but the lack of anything to see meant I found myself listening with my eyes shut for most of the set - accompanied by the most divine onstage chemistry.

In the words of Robert Forster, "I'll stop for petrol and I'll stop for Dylan / but that's the limit when I get moving".

Off to see Bob. The greatest songwriter and the greatest pop star that ever lived. Cor!

And just down the road, too.

The next issue of my In The April Sun zine is v. v. nearly done.

I think it's gonna run to 56 pages this time, and 51 pages are finished, bar a gargantuan proof-read.

As a teaser, here is one page of the six-page review of @glasgoespop.bsky.social

Delightful news!
I was in a indie pop band..We released six singles & two albums, Then we split up but continued to make music with each other & hang out, Anyway after 30 years we decided to reform.. It’s great fun playing again and we have some gigs & new music lined up…
