Fun fact about Calgary's new City Council: there are as many councillors-elect named Mike/Myke as there are women.

The first time an Alberta government invoked the notwithstanding clause, public outrage forced a reversal in less than 24 hours. I wish to God Albertans would show the same moral fury now, when school children are outed & bullied by the government that is supposed to protect them. #ableg #abpoli

Today, I kicked off my city-wide Listening Tour by moving my desk outside my new campaign office in Old Strathcona to meet with Edmontonians face-to-face.

It was great to connect, hear your ideas, and talk about what matters most to you.

As usual, @pancholirakhi.bsky.social absolutely nails it here.

Minister Amery has no business "recommending" Elections Alberta do anything with its reference to the courts, but this has become standard operating procedure for the UCP.

Democracy is powerful, but delicate. Do better. #ableg

There are 200+ independent candidates now registered for the byelection in Battle River-Crowfoot where Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is running.

So Elections Canada has now decided to just have people write in the name of the person they want to vote for, instead of marking an 'X' on a list.

Reports like this are designed to help all involved and those studying the tragedy learn how things can be improved next time and what worked well.

This report was also not written by Jasper.

Instead of making this about you, Premier, learn what can be done differently next time.

There was a time when government made legitimate attempts to consult and listen to Albertans on major policy decisions.

Now, the UCP is just going through the motions to push out whatever they want.

From a provincial pension to provincial police, no one voted for this. #ableg

I'm so looking forward to moderating this discussion tomorrow morning at Non-Profit Day 2025!

With how divisive politics has become in recent years, it is important to find ways to bridge the growing divides and have constructive political conversations.

In the article I wrote, I discussed the idea of purity testing being a major barrier to young men getting involved with the progressive movement.

To be clear, there is no place for -isms and -phobias in our movement.

But attitudes like this push these men away. #ableg 🧵

I take a look at the three #ableg by-elections and how each race will have unique goals and opportunities for both the NDP and UCP.

Given this could be a preview to an early election next year, everyone should be paying close attention.
