Hearing from @naheednenshi.bsky.social at our NDYA meeting! He’s always open & straightforward about his thoughts on party communications, particularly how we can change our approaches to framing our progressive ideas & how we talk about better being possible. Majorly appreciated. 🍊💜 #abpoli

Today, I take my seat in the Legislature for the first time as the MLA for Edmonton-Strathcona and Leader of the Official Opposition.

Representing you in this chamber is an incredible honour of a lifetime and a responsibility that I’m deeply grateful for.

Thank you, Alberta.

“You give yourself a raise for $2400 for your living expenses, but you take $200 away from people on AISH.”

At tonight's town hall, Danielle Smith was criticized for her current responsibilities as Premier on a few issues. #ableg

“We need to look back on the leadership of Jack Layton who brought everyone along in our movement – because we must build an Alberta for everyone. He was a believer in the power of youth to make change happen, and we must, too.” #andp #ableg
If our progressive movement hopes to win the next #ableg election, we must find ways to better connect with young men.

This was a tough piece to write, but here are some of my thoughts on what is happening and what we can do to improve.

Did you know men between 18-44 make up 33.5% (987,420) of Alberta's eligible voting population?

Did you know that only 37-39% of them would vote for us today?

Our movement needs to win back young men to our side of the aisle if we hope to win the next Alberta election. #ableg

It was great to meet with media from so many multicultural communities yesterday!

These organizations play a crucial role in sharing news and information with communities often overlooked by traditional media sources. Thank you for joining us!

April’s Labour Force Survey shows Alberta has the highest youth unemployment rate in the country.

Under Danielle Smith, young people are struggling to find careers where they can thrive.

Instead of trying to separate our country, the UCP should be fighting for good jobs for everyone.

While the Premier is fanning the flames of separatism to score political points with her base, let's take a look at 10 of things she is trying to distract Albertans from. #ableg

Let's do this as a thread since we can't cover it all in one post🧵

Investors need certainty. That is a major reason why capital fled out of Montreal during their referendum days.

Alberta has a $5.2B deficit before the current WTI price drop (every $1=$750M lost), we can't afford to drive investment away further. #ableg

WTI dropped $10/bbl in the last 48 hours.

That’s a $7.5 billion hit to our budget.

That’s what the Premier of Albertan referred to as a “BIG WIN”.
To those interested, Alberta’s budget gets hit by $750MM for each $1/bbl drop in the WTI oil price.

Much like the #CorruptCare contracts, the Minister's statement of defence just doesn't add up.

She can't claim she wasn't the AHS CEO's employer and then go on to write a 23-page complaint about the CEO's performance as her employee. 🧐

It's hard for the UCP to be on Team Canada when they are blatantly on Team Trump.

The UCP's statement of defence is yet another chapter in the UCP's #CorruptCare saga.

Albertans deserve better.
We deserve answers.

And we won't have them until the Premier calls an independent, judge-led, public inquiry.

The UCP is implicated in the worst corruption this province has ever seen: Millions in taxpayer dollars funneled to UCP insiders, political pressure to rig contracts, and a Minister of Health refusing to answer questions.

Albertans deserve better. We need answers. Now.

All the other Premiers are taking concrete actions to protect Canadians today.

Premier Smith… is just holding more meetings. #ableg #abpoli

How is there still radio silence from Alberta’s government on a response to Trump’s tariffs?

There has been ample time to come up with some kind of action. Everyone knew this was coming.

The rando staffers they met were basically stacked kids in a trenchcoat. If that’s all they could get for all that money AB and ON spend, the Premiers should have taken a pass on the meeting and done a media tour instead.

This outcome is embarrassing. Makes us look weak. Provincial, even.
