Every. Single. Time. We have the solution, we know the solution, we just have to do it.
An Oregon pilot program giving cash to homeless youths sees a staggering reduction in homelessness. The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.

So anyway, the only meal I can usually rely on, any given day, is dinner. I haven't had dinner in a few days.

I tried haha-funny. I tried softy-sincere.
Here's a shot with point-blank-brutalism.

I'm disabled and queer and benefit-less and starving.

This is your friendly reminder to check the before and after prices of stuff going on sale for Black Friday and all way before November. When I worked in e-commerce I was regularly asked to hike all of the prices in a website by 20-40 % in October and then put everything on « Sale ». Be smart.

When they ask you
(and they will ask you)
if you are tired
of wearing a mask all the time,
you can tell them yes
or you can tell them no,
but be sure to tell them
that what you are really tired of
is everyone you know
getting sick all the time.

No, I don’t care what you’re using it for.

You should stop.

I know that these days
it can often seem
the only people
testing positive for Covid
are celebrities,
but you must understand
that this is not because
celebrities are
the only people
still contracting Covid
but that most people
no longer bother testing.

Folks will talk about universal basic income, free public transit, and unrestricted public welfare systems like "just because it worked in a tiny town doesn't mean it can work in big cities" as if we don't have decades of studies showing that it actually works there too. There too. Yup, and there. 🙄

Some estimates are around 0.2% to 4.9% lifetime prevalence for AAN: pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC...

Others estimate UP TO 13.6% of women. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33711788/

Because constant dieting, deep desire to lose weight? Severe body dissatisfaction? Sounds like AAN, and also like SOCIETY
Restrictive eating disorders in higher weight persons: A systematic review of atypical anorexia nervosa prevalence and consecutive admission literature
Currently, there is debate in the eating disorders field regarding how to define atypical anorexia (AAN), how prevalent it is in community and clinical settings, and how AAN rates compare with low-weight AN. This systematic review assesses AAN ...

It's really difficult to get a handle on the prevalence of AAN because...well for people in larger bodies, doctors praise any weight loss to the skies.

No matter how it's achieved.

No matter how much it might harm their health otherwise.

Atypical Anorexia Nervosa (AAN) is....intense fear of gaining weight, restricted diet (or binge/purge type), refusal to maintain body weight.

...and a BMI ABOVE 17.

Spot the difference?

So yes, the only difference is that people with AAN can be of "normal" weight. OR in larger bodies!

One of the things I want people to take away from this is (CN: EDs): Anorexia doesn't look like you think.

Sometimes, yes, it does.

But a LOT of times it does not. 🧵

I wrote this piece because I only learned about pelvic floors a few years ago, despite having had one all my life. And then it turned out to be where I store all my issues. And then that turned out to be true for a lot of people www.wired.com/story/the-pe...
The Pelvic Floor Is a Problem
Everyone’s suddenly obsessed with the pelvic floor—physical therapists, MAHA influencers, me. Could this deeply misunderstood body part really be the seat of so much modern dysfunction?

The CDC has BEEN dead, folks. You just didn’t care when it was only dragging trans folks, brown and black folks, and disabled folks with it. Because it was never you, never your kids. But it’s you and your kids now, isn’t it?

I stopped trusting the CDC when they underplayed covid, when they no longer recommended masks to the general public, when they told people like me to stay home while everyone else could happily leave us behind. That opened the door to this. Most people just don’t want to admit it.
