Just thinking about the scale of numbers after reading headlines this week.
1 million seconds is ~11.5 days
1 billion seconds is ~31.7 years
1 trillion seconds is ~31,688 years

Walmart and McDonald’s are among the top employers of workers who rely on food stamps.

McDonald's CEO raked in $18.2M last year — over 1,000x the company's median employee pay.

Walmart's CEO pocketed $27.4M — 930x the company's median employee pay.

See the problem?

Both sides both sides both sides ok but only one side is repeating a blatant lie about what the other side’s intentions are and have updated official government websites to spread that lie

Oh now members of the Republican Party cares about “disenfranchising voters” 🙄

Anyways RCV is one of my favorite things about living in Alaska (and I love living in Alaska)
Republican members of an Alaska advisory committee to the U.S. Civil Rights Commission are seeking to study whether Alaska’s ranked choice voting system violates federal law by disenfranchising voters. www.adn.com/politics/202...

A mainstream outlet finally does more than repeat the official BS statement from ICE about the shooting of Silvero Villegas-Gonzalez. This man's death should be a national scandal. Grateful for indy journalists who questioned the official narrative that corporate outlets mindlessly echoed last week.
Undocumented father killed by ICE agent in Franklin Park shooting had no criminal background, lawyer says
The undocumented father shot and killed by an ICE agent in Franklin Park, Illinois, only had a history of minor traffic violations, not a criminal record, according to his attorney.

AI slop is AI slop even if your favorite politician is using it to own the MAGAs. Very frustrating to see how normalized this is even in more liberal circles

Reminder that red states aren't homogeneous. Cool it with the "FAFO" energy
More people voted for Kamala Harris in Texas (4.8 million) than did in New York (4.6 million) — this sentiment is not just cruel, it’s also ignorant

I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy.

I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.

NASA has a logo so well-known that people wear it on hats and shirts globally. Even in sci-fi space movies, actors wear badges with NASA since it is so synonymous with space.

NASA's science budget is getting cut by over half. Doesn't matter how well you sell an agency. You still can get cut.
You hear this a lot on the left but it isn't true. USAID did not "fail to tell its story to Americans," the right targeted the agency with lies and misinformation.

Ultimately this narrative turns conservative attacks into even more calls for the left to reform.
