A really brilliant article by @archimbaldo.bsky.social on what exactly we should be talking about when we discuss the future of the organised left (as such) and the party. Looking forward to more in this series!
Archie Woodrow begins our "What is the Party?" series by arguing that Britain's fragmented anticapitalist left is stupider than the sum of its parts & that we must start a process of regroupment instead of rushing into electoralist opportunism. prometheusjournal.org/2024/11/22/t...

New Syriza leader is a "distressed asset maestro" and former Goldman Sachs banker, who ran on his status as a political outsider, and wants Syriza to "just follow the US formula as soon as possible" by turning itself into a "big tent" party modelled on US Democrats. Remarkable and very grim

There's a critic I like (Darren Mooney), who makes the point that DS9 challenged the assumptions Star Trek was built on (esp TNG), but no one every really knew how to respond, so DS9 ends up as kind of an evolutionary dead-end.
That might've bled into the 3rd gen of Trek, even w/SNW's nostalgia?

in case you didn't see it on The Other Site - here's a piece by me, complaining about work in the context of 'pop up' kitchens and 'residencies' and uber and other things.
